OK, I have a lot of thins on laptop and want to remove them but I have to many things to be removing and stuff and I decided I only want art, and music programs on my laptop so I was wondering how would I reset my laptop to factory setting or basically reset so its like I just bought it from the store?

You should have been supplied with a disc by the manufacturer of the computer, or the capability to burn a disc upon first run, or there should be some software on your computer with which you can burn a recovery disc.

What is the manufacturer of the computer?

Are you running Windows Vista or XP?

There should be a RECOVERY partition somewhere.

1. Backup ALL your important data. Your documents, music, application settings, everything. The whole of your user folder. All your fonts. Anything you'll need.

2. Download the installers for ALL the programs you will want to reinstall. Everything. (If you read my informer articles you should have already done this -.- ). Put them on whatever backup medium you choose (backup hard drive is the best option).

3. Once you are sure you are ready to continue, follow the instructions in here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/gene ... =c00814731

Remember, following the instructions therein will wipe your hard drive. Make sure you have backed up.

I would recommend getting a backup hard drive. Anyone on RSBandB who does have one will know they are an invaluable asset. The Western Digital 'My Book' series are good. Have a look on Amazon or something.
