lets bring in a medal system

Why not. I DESERVE recognition.

No i joke. Not about the medal thing. I'm pretty sure it's been requested before and I dont remember the reasoning for turning it down. ANYWAY it's a good idea. Treat it like an achievement system it encourages people to do things (donate, submit so much content, run a community event, shown up to so many events etc) it encourages activity (so many posts, so many years here yada yada yada) then you can put in runescape based ones (99 in <insertskill>, 100 mill exp gained or whatever bla bla bla) can't be to hard to do amiright? Just design some pictures, work your magic on the forums and kaboom!

Simples.

Current staff positions (GMs, CMs, CC, EC, and NS) would be prefixed with 'Rookie' initially when they recieve the medal for 1 year and then 'Veteran' for three years. Five years or more would receive 'Everlasting' as a prefix.
If a retired position member has proof of being in a retired staff group for 3 years they would receive the Veteran prefix infront of their title.(I.E. a long time judge was judge for 3 years and a few members remember that so that member would get the Veteran Graphics Evaluator medal)

I think a mixture of both. Maybe some unobtainable ones now like was in the Graphics Crew, or has been an admin/mod. Other stuff like newspaper staff and events crew. Then attended X amount of events etc.

I was going to say if it was to go ahead it should be opened up a bit more to discussion so people can suggest and just pick..the good ones i guess. Theres no reason why it can't be added to further in the future and stuff anyway right?

I think i will have to disagree with Kenny about giving them out for holding positions cause i think it'll just encourage people to apply for roles like events crew just to get the medal and not care about actually doing the job. XD I do think they deserve some recognition for providing a service so perhaps hand those out if they put in a years service in whatever role?

As for difficulty a mixture would be good i think. Easy ones sure and perhaps some long term ones as well. As i said it'd be nice if we can build upon it and evolve it over time. Perhaps extend it to other things you guys run like runewire or whatever down the line if it proves to be a hit.

We just need to get a solid number of them that'll keep people busy. And perhaps think up a better more rsbandb/runescape-themed name.

Also I think the medals could maybe see the return of the distinguished user, maybe a medal for people who contribute a lot to the forum in the way of starting and adding to topics and debates, and also giving advice to members when it is needed.
