lets bring in a medal system

It would probably encourage spamming and the ranks are to congratulate on more posts so I don't think there should be medals for those.

Since the staff has already said this would be implemented and my post was almost completely ignored I guess there is no point in trying to fight it.

If this is going to be a medal then it should be applicable to any April fools joke that doesn't effect the whole community.

I wouldn't say it was ignored. I actually disagreed with this idea myself to begin with but having now seen the strong support for it I think it'll probably work. Things tend to work out better if there are no negative preconceptions of them, but all I can see in this thread is positivity, so great work guys.

You guys will have to remember that this can't happen overnight, it's going to take a while to get all the images and achievements together, then to get the code together, then how to implement the procedure of giving them. Your suggestions will not be ignored; they make things a lot easier, and faster for everyone.

That said, I'm going to try to do some thinking this week and come up with a list later on.

I don't think it'll effect spamming anymore than having ranks does. I'm off to see Ricky Gervais (

I like the 99 medal system. For each 99, you get a little skill medal to have in that skill.

Personally, I don't see all these little medals for game related tasks working out. I think it should be mainly broad, community based topics that reward medals. Medals lose their meaning if everyone has tons of them lining their posts. Ideas like "x" articles written, events hosted, or submissions made are really the only ones that make any sense to me. Keep in mind that players are rewarded for in-game achievements in-game. It's my feeling that these medals should gear specifically towards actions you have done that benefit the RSBANDB community.

It's really just a means of showing your in game achievements.

The problem with articles written medal is that it is restricted to a single group. Well I don't know if that is much of a problem, but what about the people who apply and apply and consistently get denied and just give up (not sure if there is more than one person actually) l0l
I wonder if allowing some guest articles is still a stupid idea

Personally, I'm not too sure about medals releated to RS, I know a large ammount of people here are heavy players. But there is still a part of them who don't play at all.

It's kinda medals that Retireds will never get...

Nah, everyone would be rushing to make birthday posts for whoevers birthday it was then. Myabe one for celebrating your birthday while being a member of rsbandb but i dunno. Seems like a pretty easy medal with no real effort required.
