Just left everyone a note on Steam. Hopefully people will catch the comment and reply either here or there so we can gauge overall interest.

So far, from looking at relatively recent posts, I've come up with a list of MW supporters:

1) Me
2) nikeballa435
3) Sam
4) Shane............stated on the podcast, i believe.
5) Chief..............ditto
6) Pfkninenines (if interest is high enough)

7) King Kulla

I think the map pack needs to be updated, tonight I saw map scifi and a barbershop map and I had to download the scifi one, we haven't played on the barbershop but I don't think I have that one.

We've played on the Tonysbarbershop map before.

As for the map pack, the server has been upgraded for quick downloads in game, pretty much eliminating the need to put map packs up elsewhere. I might make a large zip of extra maps and put them on Dropbox or something, that way people could have something else to grab.

Also for the week of the 10th, please note the thing about the 'Winner' for the week, and the 'prize' they recieve :) More details on the first post.

Well, I'm sure the download could have been slower but when you have 150-230 latency the download takes awhile and it would be faster to already have the map.

How will you determine the winner? You never recognize a winner so I am curious.

If Half-Life wins out this week, I'll be there. I was busy prepping for my AP Calculus test earlier tonight, but that'll be over on Wednesday. After that, it's freedom! :D

Duke, if you want to come to a HL2:DM game, just create a new account.. The game is free with the Nvidia / Ati offers, so might as well take advantage of that.

Not sure how we'll determine a winner. Could be the person who gets the most kills, the person who fails the most but doesn't become a troll, or someone who is just a good overall player. We won't tell you the qualities that we're looking for - for the most part you should already be doing what we'll look for.

I've also taken the liberty of uploading a new set of maps.. Everything from the Rsbandb HL2DM server. You'll need either 7-zip or Winrar v3.92+, or some other archive program that can open .7z files. It cut 60-70mb off of the file, so I figured it would be worth using. After all, it's usually worth pre-downloading if you have a slower connection.. And with a slower connection, file size matters. The download size is ~221mb, and the extracted filesize is ~700mb.

As per usual, extract these to something like C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\Username\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps . I'll also put the new link in the first post leading back to this post due to the special instructions for extraction.

EDIT - August 2010 - Updated the map download. Also note that you can download individual maps directly from the Rsbandb Server and put them in the same location.

Well, I'm not into HL2:DM that much. Not one of my favorite games. I'd also really like to get my account back regardless of how much hassle it is. I'm sure I'll have it back by this month some time. Until then, I'm enjoying playing the old Starcraft and Warcraft 3 atm. I think you guys are the ones missing out. :D Anyways, I'm also waiting for PNY to ship me back my graphics card from New Jersey. Hope to have that back by this month as well. Some companies work so...slow. I'll survive without HL2:DM or CS:S until then. I could always start another account, but for now, I'm happy to wait to get my old account back.

Edit: Good news. I got mt account back today. :D Bad news? I'm not playing HL2 this next week. xD Still, glad I got my account back after almost 3 weeks now. #-o And my new replacement graphics card has been shipped. Now, if only finals were over, this would be an epic week completely. :P

I'm getting an error when I attempt to extract. My download might have gotten messed. I'll re-download it tomorrow and check back in, but this is what I got.

I've also taken the liberty of uploading a new set of maps.. Everything we use that I have downloaded, so in essence, the maps we actually tend to use. You'll need either 7-zip or Winrar v3.92+, or some other archive program that can open .7z files. It cut 60-70mb off of the file, so I figured it would be worth using. After all, it's usually worth pre-downloading if you have a slower connection.. And with a slower connection, file size matters. The download size is ~166mb, and the extracted filesize is ~525mb.

Well, if it turns out to be whoever fails the most that will probably be me so it probably won't be that.

As for the maps, that's great, I will download them tomorrow and see how it goes.

Directxfire, Try using 7-zip, and if that doesn't work then your download must not have finished correctly.

Your download didn't finish correctly. As I stated in my post, the file is ~166mb. Also for Winrar, you'll need at least version 3.92, as that brought the support for uncompression of 7zip's LZMA2 (which is what I used).

If you're on Firefox, try using a download manager like Downloadthemall! to download the file. It should work a bit better than the default download manager, and hopefully it will prevent the file from becoming corrupt.

If problems still persist, I'll split the archive into smaller chunks and link to those. That's what I tend to do with files >100mb anyway, but for linking on a website, it tends to be easier to just have the one link.

So 'cause my breaker thingy blew, I haven't been to this event in ages. I hope this computer I'm using will be able to run HL2.

Let's put it to the test. :D ;)

Not free (you need at least HL2), but Synergy is a fun mod, and would be nice with the smallish crowd we normally get.
