A clan member posted this on our forums and I was quite shocked when I saw it. I'm pretty sure it's not edited ...if it is it's a very good edit.

Thoughts? Personally I'm hyped if it's true.

A new F2P skill?!?!?!?!?!!

Now all they need is a few more quests and nobody will pay for members ever again.

It isn't F2P. The quest to learn Summoning starts in Taverly.

It wouldn't be the first time the staff lied or said something that wasn't true.

That would make two lying Jagex Mods; doesn't make sense.

I feel the F2p may need a new skill, but also agree with others, Summoning shouldn't be F2p. Give them fletching or something.

I think it has to be. Really, I was thinking about trying to balence for example an f2p and p2p player dueling...one with summoning and the other not. Dear god. It creates a lot of problems if you think about it. Up until now. P2P combat has been analogous to F2P. They are equal to compare if you changed that...you could get major problems. Mostly for P2P players who aren't currently members.

As far as I know, f2p and p2p have never had separate combat systems.

Plus, this is a good way for Jagex to infuse enthusiasm into a game which has been hampered by a new limitation system on trading. That is why they are doing it.

Ah, this is true. #-o I didn't think about it till now but it would have to be F2p so that F2p players will be able to obtain 138 combat. Otherwise they'd be left out with the 126 limitation. [/color]

I believe it will be F2P, but P2P will get a lot more featrues, as with all other skills that are F2P.

Some way north-west of Sophanem, there is a bit of a buzz in the quiet town of Taverley. For one, Guthix has seen fit to give his loyal subjects some crisp new robes, and their rocky buildings a bit of a wax. For two, some strange growlings have been coming from Pikkupstix's house. In the second of this month's quests, you will be roped into dealing with a rabbit-wolf-reindeer-bird-type...thing. But how do you defeat rabbit-wolf-reindeer-bird-type...things? A clue may be found in the title of this Wolf Whistle quest, which introduces key aspects of our next update...

Compared to some of RuneScape's other skills, Summoning is one of the more complex. Mod Mark, Senior Creative Designer, says, "If players don't understand something straight away, they may just dismiss it. If that happens it's our fault, not the players. That's why Summoning had to have a quest." This quest, titled Wolf Whistle, will act as both an introduction and a tutorial.

So Taverly would be going F2P as well?

Fool. It'll work like all f2p skills, there'll be a limit at a certain point.

Use logic, son.

no, there is actually no problem here at all. members have higher levels of some skills due to members abilities. prayer gives me a disadvantage in free to play dueling... im 4 combat levels higher than i'd want because i have it higher for members prayers. O NOE JAGEX LOER MI PRAR 2 43 WEN I GO 2 F2P WURLDZ PLZ NOONE WILL STAKE ME 3KGP! LOLOLOL

summoning is just the same. if it is members, then all a former member would have to say is "i have 3 combat levels from summoning. check hs if you want" problem solved. besides, its not like the free duel arena is impressive... you take turns whacking eachother with sticks with protect melee till you both run out of prayer. no special attacks or effects, no strategy, no real challenge. anyone who gets so upset about the completely worthless free to play duels should really belong in a mental institution.
